Celebrate a Patriotic Afternoon at the Historic Pullen's Corner Schoolhouse on Sunday, June 8th

A celebration of Flag Day will be held at Lincoln's Pullen's Corner Schoolhouse at Chase Farm Park on Sunday, June 8th starting at 1:00 pm.  The one-day event includes a curated exhibit of unique historic flags displayed at the historic one-room schoolhouse, both inside and out.  Historian Kirk Hindman will explain the history of each of the flags from his collection that includes regimental, American, and state flag examples.

Summer Of Love: A Journey Through the 1960s Exhibit Debuts at Hearthside

Typically at the Hearthside House Museum, guests are greeted by volunteers dressed in Victorian or Edwardian attire as they are welcomed to explore this 200-year old home and some of the many families who have lived there. This summer, though, the hands of time have landed on a much more recent history which is 1960-1969 so those volunteers may now be dressed in tie-dye shirts and bell bottoms for the newest exhibit, "Summer of Love: A Journey Through the 1960s."

The last opportunity to catch Hearthside's current exhibit, "Something Old, Something New: 150 Years of Wedding Fashions & Traditions is on Saturday, April 26th.  This popular exhibit includes an extensive display of wedding attire that ranges from 1850-2000.  The attractive displays feature floral touches and special attention to the finest details, such as a wedding party at the altar, a reception in the dining room, hope chests brimming with linens hand embroidered by prospective brides, and suitcases packed with vacation attire for the honeymoon trip.

Thrive Grant Provides $5,000 Award to Friends of Hearthside

The Friends of Hearthside was one of 22 organizations that received the 2025 Thrive Grant given by Rhode Island Humanities for operational support of small cultural heritage organizations and local historical and preservation societies that support and strengthen Rhode Island’s many diverse, dynamic communities.  The award was for $5000.
