Engaging Visitors of All Ages

School visits and group tours are most welcome and may be scheduled by appointment. Hearthside is the centerpiece of a cluster of historic sites nestled along the Moshassuck River designated as the Great Road Historic District, where 300 years of history, architecture and landscape come together to offer an interpretation of the areas journey from Colonial times of rural agrarian life to the birth of the Industrial Revolution. Today, several historical gems in this area are open to the public. A visit to Hearthside along with the many other Great Road and neighboring historic sites brings this nationally significant story of the beginnings of our nation together. Contact must be made with individual sites to coordinate arrangements.

School Tours

With an important part of our mission to provide history and inspiration to the next generation, Hearthside encourages school tours by public, private, and home school groups. Our educational programs can be adapted to fit most any age group and curriculum. Tours are designed to incorporate a variety of topics and themes, but we can customize it to specifically address certain areas such as local history, science, economics, humanities, geography, and art. We are most willing to work with teachers to insure that their specific curriculum needs are met. Groups of 10 to 40 can be accommodated at one time; larger groups may divide up into smaller groups and arrange visits with nearby sites to make for an enhanced experience. Special pricing arranged depending upon group size and tour content.
