Downton Abbey is Theme of Hearthside's Afternoon Tea on Saturday, May 10
Hearthside’s annual Afternoon Tea features a farewell to Downton Abbey. This event comes just in time to get re-acquainted with the Crawley family before the September release of the third, and reportedly final, Downton Abbey movie, which is set to close out the story that carried on from the most popular tv series into two movies.
Hearthside's docents will be dressed in their Downton styles ready to welcome guests to Lincoln's own “Downton Abbey” with tables elegantly set with china, linen, lace, fresh flowers, delectable tea sandwiches and sweets served with freshly brewed tea.
"It's a great time to get dressed up or put on a special hat, while stepping back to enjoy a touch of elegance," states Kathy Hartley of Hearthside."
The program features a great deal more than just tea. Guests will enjoy a fashion presentation covering the period of the show, 1912-1925 given by former Lincoln resident Karen "Ren" Antonowicz, fashion historian. Trivia games about Downton will test die hard fans as a farewell to the Crawley family. There will be fun for all, even those not familiar with Downton. Raffles and prizes are also included for best Downton-inspired outfit or hat. Following the tea service, guests are invited to tour through the house where a portion of the recent bridal exhibit will still be on display. The gift shop is stocked with selections for a special mother or just treating oneself. Hearthside's Tea is always a memorable afternoon for tea lovers, as a special outing with friends or family for Mother's Day weekend, or for fans of Downton.
With limited seating, there are two times offered, at 12:30 or 3:30 pm. Reservations and ticket sales in advance only by May 4th available through hearthsidehouse.org. Tickets are $50 each.
